I’ll start by saying it straight away, if you’re familiar with the city of Lund then these shouldn’t be hidden eats for you. However, if you’re new to the city (say you are a new student of Lunds Universitet) or a tourist spending a few days here, then these are certainly places worth a visit that you may have either turned your nose up at or completely missed when walking by.
I’ll keep this one to the point. So, let’s get to it.
Fengsson Dumpling House
Dumplings, dumplings, dumplings. Now I may be a little bias here as dumplings have a very warm and tasty place in my heart. But this tiny little hole-in-the-ground restaurant produces some of the best and cheapest food available in the city. It’s customisable. It’s quick. And it’s delicious. Pick up a selection of dumplings (pork, chicken, veggie or mixed), a dipping sauce (a few variations available) and some noodles/rice and you’re good to go. Throw in some complimentary soup and you’re on to a real winning lunch!

Korvhuset
This place is a true staple in Lund. Translated to “The Sausage House”, there’s no surprises what’s on sale here. Good ol’ ‘bangers’ as some of us Brits might call them. With a wide selection of high quality korv inspired by classics from around the world, this place will truly fill your stomach. Take your sausage in a delicious baguette for a meal on the go, or take a seat and pair it with some mashed potatoes (potatismos), potato salad (potstissallad) or coleslaw. The house special (husets special) is always a winner too.

Rauhrackel
Located in a basement one of the oldest streets in the city, you could quite easily walk past this hidden gem without really noticing it. This charming Austrian restaurant offers a cozy and intimate dining and drinking experience to anyone lucky enough to grab a table. Schnitzel, pretzel, wurst, spätzle, apfelstrudel – all can be found on their authentic menu. And there’s of course a brilliant selection of beer available too, including the always popular meter of beer (en meter öl). This place is popular with the locals and can get busy, so I’d recommend booking if you get the chance.

Mui Gong
Located across the street from beautiful Lundigård, this little restaurant offers something very unique for this small city – authentic Sichuan cuisine. Words from Mui Gong, “We dont have fancy facilities or spacious rooms[…] but we have a tailor-made menu for real Chinese food lovers“. Try the Chinese Hamburger (Rou Jia Mo) for a quick bite, or enjoy a feast of Mapo Tofu and Dan Dan Noodles.

Africa Daily Restaurang
This one actually is a hard one to find, despite its central location. (I needed at least one on the list which I’d call “hidden”). Inside of this fun little African shop you’ll find a great lunch buffet full of West African inspired food that’s cooked with love. Offering food with that homecooked feeling and flavours outside of the normal for the city of Lund, each dish is like a warm cuddle for your stomach.
